On this special occasion of International Project Management Day, we are thrilled to dive into the world of project management and how it shapes the success of organizations worldwide. At ADM, our project management processes are not just a set of procedures; they are the backbone of our success. They provide a structured approach to planning, executing, and controlling projects to achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively. With every project we undertake, we aim to deliver on time, within budget, and to meet the highest quality standards.

Project managers play a pivotal role in this journey of excellence. Their responsibilities are multifaceted and crucial to the success of each project. Let’s explore some of these responsibilities in more detail:

Define Clear Project Goals and Objectives: At ADM, our project managers work closely with our clients to understand the project’s vision and translate it into clear, actionable goals. These goals serve as the guiding light throughout the project’s lifecycle.

Allocate Resources Efficiently: Ensuring that the right team members with the right skills are utilized is a cornerstone of effective project management. Our project managers reserve and plan resources efficiently to maximize the project’s potential.

Manage Project Scope: Keeping the project scope well-defined and controlled is essential. This prevents “scope creep,” a common pitfall that can lead to delays and budget overruns. Our project managers are adept at maintaining a clear project scope.

Monitor and Adjust as Needed: Through regular monitoring and reporting, our project managers can identify potential issues early and make necessary adjustments to keep the project on track. This proactive approach ensures that projects stay on course.

Deliver on Time and on Budget: Our ultimate goal is to deliver a high-quality product that not only meets but exceeds our client’s expectations while staying within the agreed-upon timeline and budget. This commitment to excellence is a hallmark of our project management approach.

At ADM, we leverage a cutting-edge Atlassian toolset to empower our project managers and enhance their capabilities:

  • JIRA: A powerful project management and issue-tracking software designed to help teams plan, track, manage, and report project-related tasks.
  • Confluence: A collaborative and documentation software that aids in creating, organizing, and sharing various types of project documentation, fostering seamless communication within teams.

Meet Aleksandra, ADMer since 2021

  1. In the world of project management, what’s your spirit animal, and why?
Horse – the first animal that came to my mind. A horse is powerful, strong, hardworking, and demonstrates the strong motivation that carries us through life.
  2. If your life were a project, what would be the project name and its most challenging milestone?
If my life were a project, the project name would be a “Roller Coaster” with all its ups and downs. The most challenging milestone is becoming a mother.
  3. What’s your secret recipe for keeping a project team motivated during crunch time?
A bit of humor and praise in every meeting or daily stand-up works very well even in the most difficult times of the project phase.
  4. If you could sum up your project management style with a famous movie quote, what would it be?
I have two quotes: “Well, nobody’s perfect” (Some Like it Hot) and “Just Keep Swimming” (Finding Nemo).
  5. If you could choose a project management anthem, what song would it be?
We Are The Champions (Queen), a project manager is nothing without the team.
  6. What’s the strangest or most unexpected skill you’ve acquired while managing projects?
I can deeply focus on my tasks without wearing any headphones in an office full of people making jokes. That’s my skill 🙂
  7. If you could have any fictional character as your project management sidekick, who would it be and why?
It would be The Flash from the DC, who’ll have a speed force and answer all my clients’ emails.
  8. What’s your favorite hobby or pastime outside of work?
Spending time with my family and some fitness, of course.
  9. What’s the most unusual skill or talent you possess that has nothing to do with project management?
I used to be a professional dancer many years ago, but I’m still quite flexible and can do the splits.
  10. Can you share a memorable team achievement from your time here at ADM?
A successful delivery of the National Library’s new web project. We started this project straight after two teams had been merged and we managed to do it very well.
  11. What do you enjoy most about working at ADM?
In ADM I have wonderful and motivated people around me, challenging and meaningful projects, and the freedom to organize my own work and time.

Meet Maryia, ADMer since 2022

  1. In the world of project management, what’s your spirit animal, and why?
Just checked some spirit animals’ characteristics and I think that I’m more like a Panda as it is characterized by the following: Adaptability, balance, determination, willpower, diplomacy, and inner sight. When it comes to project management, you need to quickly adapt to changing environments, as the requirements and clients’ requests change with the speed of light. Balancing priorities and maintaining determination is also crucial. In high-pressure stressful situations, having willpower is a necessity. And of course, diplomacy and inner sight are crucial for communication with both clients and your team.
  2. What’s your secret recipe for keeping a project team motivated during crunch time?
I always tell my team to remember that there is a solution for everything; it just takes time to figure out what is wrong. Even if something seems challenging now, it’s a chance to learn and gain experience.
  3. If you could sum up your project management style with a famous movie quote, what would it be?
I asked chat gpt to help me with a couple of options, but I guess the one below is about me
“I’ll be back… to check on the project status.” – not micromanaging, just prefer to be informed😊
  4. If you could choose a project management anthem, what song would it be?
    Sia – Unstoppable
  5. What’s the strangest or most unexpected skill you’ve acquired while managing projects?
Reading people’s emotions – it became easy for me to tell a person’s reaction just by looking into their face: whether a person likes the idea, is confused about smth, or just does not like the situation at all.
  6. If you were a project management tool, which one would you be, and why?
Jira – it is organized and provides visibility.
  7. What’s your go-to way of explaining a complex project concept to someone who has no idea about it?
Analogy – basically explaining by comparing something that the person knows or has an understanding about. I would say something like “It is like this…, but a bit different in this… and has unique features like …”
  8. If you could have any fictional character as your project management sidekick, who would it be and why?
I think it would be Hermione from the Harry Potter book: she is smart, organized, and has great communication skills.
  9. What’s your favorite hobby or pastime outside of work?
    Traveling, sport, and reading.
  10. What do you enjoy most about working at ADM?
The fact that I’m surrounded by nice people who also are high professionals in what they are doing.
