ADM’s annual band competition is in full swing and we have already received quite a few participants. We are still open to new applicants so don’t hesitate to send in your demo as you just might be the one who makes the judges’ eyes light up.
Riho Pihelpuu, CEO of ADM and one of the members of the jury, was the driving force in starting this ADM’s annual tradition. The idea to offer this opportunity to musicians happened years ago while he was visiting Jazzkaar (Jazz event in Estonia) and at that time there was no way to take home the amazing music Randalu and Eplik had created. “My musical taste is relatively wide-ranging from rap to jazz to classical music and opera. My vinyl selection at home includes mainly DnB, House, and NuJazz records. While in the countryside, I like to listen to Ambient, 20/30/40’s music, and Southern Gothic. Not a year has gone by without going to JuuJääb, the Saaremaa Opera Days, Jazzkaar, TMW, ERSO and Baltic Sea Philharmonic concerts. As for festivals, I like North Sea Jazz, Flow and Intsikurmu, and I also enjoy visiting Philly Joe’s Jazz Club, TIKS, ÖöTöö, Disco Tallinn, Jazzitup.”
The jury also includes the strategic manager (CSO) of ADM, Hendrek Kraavi, who expects a mysterious originality and considering the current situation, wouldn’t say no to more energetic, positive-sounding music. He also considers the lyrics of the songs to be important and recommends thinking them through. As a final piece of advice, he advised: “not to be afraid and just go for it, because there’s a lot to win and lose nothing.”
The third member is office manager Kärt Kalamees, who thinks that it doesn’t matter what genre of music it is: ” If the song has the IT factor, then it’s already a great song regardless of the style”. She also encourages everyone to send their songs on the way. “Since ADM has been releasing records for years and most of them have now also taken their music careers to the next level, you can consider this as an opportunity to give your career that last boost.”
The deadline for the competition is 04.11.2022
